Freshwater Catfish

Natural Range: Wide distribution across the Murray Darling Basin predominantly in slow moving waters (including lagoons, billabong’s and man made dams), also found in eastern flowing streams. Found in the Macquarie River, Lachlan River, Abercrombie River, Turon River and Cudgegong River, plus Burrendong Dam, Dunns Swamp, Windamere Dam, Wyangala Dam.

The species is also know to be found in a number of eastern flowing lowland streams (e.g. Nepean River).

Recorded to 90 cm in length and 6.8 kg in weight, individuals above 2 kg are uncommon.

Bag & Size Limit: 5 (in eastern dams and listed western dams), (2 in eastern rivers). 30 cm in eastern dams, listed western dams and eastern rivers.
Possession Limit: 10 (in eastern dams and listed western dams), 4 (in eastern rivers).
